We make the hydrogen economy work. Right here.

Grande Region Hydrogen is the first integrated hydrogen cluster across the four-country border region of Germany’s Saarland, France’s Grand Est, Luxembourg and Belgium. A working model that strengthens the regions economy.

Regional hydrogen clusters work where the national H2 ramp-up stalls.

Concrete industrial demand in the Saarland, affordable RFNBO production capacity in Grand Est, and infrastructure connections through all four countries and into the broader European network – GRH brings these elements together eficiently.

Three anchor projects are already being built: mosaHYc, the cross-border pipeline connecting France and Luxembourg, HY4Link, the link from Luxembourg into the German hydrogen core network, and Power4Steel, the hydrogen offtake by steelworks in the Saarland. They are the backbone of a cluster that connects production, transit and industrial demand across borders. The result is a business case that works today, and a model that others can follow.

Cluster |
How it works

Four countries.
One business case.

The Grand Est region produces renewable hydrogen. Steelworks and other industries in the Saarland use it. Luxembourg and Belgium connect. The GRH model works because the geography makes the business case work. Each country contributes what the others need. That is not a political arrangement. It is an economic logic.

Projects |
What's happening

8 projects across the region.
Operational or being built.

Three projects anchor the GRH cluster:

Together with further projects for the production of renewable hydrogen and industrial offtake they are the Grande Region Hydrogen. The infrastructure projects are part of the European Hydrogen Backbone and the physical proof that cross-border hydrogen infrastructure is no longer a concept. It is being built.

Partners |
Who's behind it

Industry, infrastructure and
institutions working together.

GRH brings together the industrial capacity, energy infrastructure and investment ecosystems of the Grande Region. The partners are the proof.
